Meat N' Bones

What did I pull out of this semester?

* A great sense of seeing sideways
* Opening my eyes to the world that breathes around us
* Molding creativity into life
* Some soul searching

I enjoyed this class a lot, sometimes the projects too much. It's funny how absorbed a person can be in their work. We all need escapes, and this perfect for just a thing. I will certainly take these skills as my building blocks for future work!

Wow

I realize now how badly I need glasses, I couldn't read any of the what if questions posted. The final class already, but really what happened to the time? I feel like the days all just melt together anymore. One whole month has already passed, and I barely even witnessed it. My mind opened up so much during this class. Sometimes I could even say it opened up too much. Thinking alllll day long can just lead to insanity. Wow... Brandons video really hit me hard. The video opened my eyes again to reality. I was baffled after watching it, bravo. Now what projects will I have for the rest of the summer?!

Two places at once?

Sometimes the world that we live in makes absolutely no sense. The thunder outside booms and roars, but why? We can prove it scientifically, but why it exists on this Earth cannot be answered. We know so little about what reality is, because we barely know what it is. What is reality? The fact that we know only what exists on our planet, but we barely even know everything on it! I cannot keep over complicating life, my happiness depends on it. Some things can be searched for a persons whole life, and still be unable to figure out.

My 50 Thesis

So I chose the .swf video that he made!
From this URL to his blog below. This video gave me a chill of excitement, something about it stood out.
http://no-u-dont.blogspot.com/2010/06/something-something-complete.html

From Heathers 50 What if questions I chose these five.

#38 What if one person was responsible for the destruction of earth?
#36 What if after the earth was destroyed the debris created something else?
#16 What if this was focused on humans instead of nature?
#39 What if one person was responsible for the creation of earth?
#27 What if this became reality?

These five stood out because I thought they were very unique. I have a lot of space to work with.

So a few days have passed and my brain is just unable to put these to life. I figured out the question I chose, but I figured it out and proved it false.

Always something new

So I'm sitting here in Bloomington and my best friends house on my laptop trying to figure out what to write about. It's about 3:40 A.M and I recalled class being very interesting today. It felt good to just get up and talk about my piece. I just cant wait to rent this camera out and start on my next one. I loved that everyone had a different opinion about what I made, and its inspired me to try and better what I've made so far. I can't believe next week is the last week of class. Its crazy how time has been flying, but I've been super bored. It's almost the only thing that keeps me feeling productive through the summer.

Sad Story

Well I broke my camera so doing the project I wanted didn't work. I really wanted to do something with photos, so I'm renting out a camera from the tech department. I will be able to pick it up tomorrow! So this project is once again delayed, but do not fret! I want to show my other project today!

Opening my eyes

You know I never thought that there was a difference in life in the approach of how I see the world, but there definitely is. I feel since after tinkering in this class that I have finally learned to see outside of the box and more like an artist. I really enjoyed yesterdays class, and nothing was better than to learn more about the piece I was working on. Everything is just flowing along now; I finally got the gears turning. As for class, I feel completely comfortable now in my environment, and the search yesterday was fun for me. I found that creating art takes an open mind, a plan, and then letting yourself loose from that plan.

Ghosts oooOooOooo

At first sitting in the dark was very cool, but it's a shame that I could start seeing everything after my vision adjusted. I noticed that while sitting in the start I definitely cannot focus on a certain point, nor could I focus on questions. It feels as if I'm floating when it's pitch black. I remember being deathly afraid all the time when I lived at home with my mother. I felt like something was always watching all the way up to the point of me moving out. Almost like a bad energy within the whole house, that's all I could think of while sitting in class in the dark. I remember all those nights I'd stare of in the black abyss of my room and feel as if something were right there with me all those years. Unfortunately sometimes it still feels that way, but I just keep it to myself, I try to push it in the back of my mind....No more of that new topic. The tunnel that we sat it, yes yes! As I sat there I could feel all my senses tingling. My back was hot from the hand railing, and my body felt beyond baked in the sun. I remember hearing the noise of society. It's almost always the same no matter what city I go to, the cars, voices, and airplanes overhead. Odd how humanity, regardless of the language, always speaks ultimately the same language. The humming of cars, sirens, or construction all gives the general voice of humanity, without any individuals saying a word. Tune into your surroundings, and you'll find beauty anywhere, regardless of the location. The rays of sun through the clouds, or even the crazy arraignment of cloud textures and colors lately. Life make sense...but if it did I do not believe I'd want to live if I knew everything. I try to escape the darkness, and sometimes on a rare occasion when I close my eyes I see his face, the way he was left on the road that frightful night my life changed.

A poster with unlimited possibilities

I really felt connected today in class, and for once I felt pretty comfortable to go up to the front and just shoot the shit. I'm super excited about blowing this project up into a poster and seeing what everyone will write down and see how they interpret it. It's always a high talking about something that purely interests me and another person. So to recap the class I felt a lot more open and comfortable, I wonder what awaits next time. Look forward to this poster!

Play-Toe

What could I do to make a super cool project? I'm limited for time considering it's 2:42 AM. All I have to do is make sure the right sort of music is on. I cannot begin to be creative if there is no music. I completely believe that the music you're listening to while doing a project alters the project itself. You'll honestly find pieces of the music within the piece you're working on. Odd how it is possible to fuse music, a sound, into imagery. Anyways that's all just blab, the guts of the story is that I picked a random book out of my bookshelf.(I was blindfolded, I thought it would make it more interesting) The book is The Republic by Plato, and I took my blindfold off and began figuring out a random approach to picking a page. So I just picked a random post it noted page which spoke about the Myth of the Metals. The post it note then read a different page number and then I went to that section called the Philosopher King.

So now what the fuck do I do? Let's review the process.

Step 1. Wait until you're slaphappy tired.
Step 2. Reset your brain, and blindfold yourself
Step 3. Pick random book from shelf, only feeling with your hands
Step 4. Put chicken pot pie in oven?
Step 5. De-fold yourself, and choose random post-it note wedged within the pages
Step 6. Make sense out of choosing everything so randomly
Step 7. Theorize, make connections, and ask why?

Rough Overview:

The Myth of Metals is a theory created by a Greek Philosopher Plato to where society is broken into a three "classes" so to say. These classes consist of Gold, Silver, and Bronze, each portraying a different responsibility. Gold are the leaders, silver are enforcers/protectors, and bronze are the merchants, farmers, and specialty jobs.

Question!

How does any of this random information tie into the world I live in? What do I know about classicism or inequalities in human history?

1. The Feudal Age- Peasantry, Nobility, and Clergy.
2. Ancient Rome- Plebeians, Patricians Secessio plebis
3. Present Day- Lower Class, Middle Class, Upper Class

So we have a pretty set of three classes. What does a class mean?
Reference.com defines it as a "Group of people within a society who possess the same socioeconomic status"

1. Each class has more power than the other
2. People tend to feel more open towards those in their own social group
3. The groups as a whole crave political, military/religious, and economical dominance.

So we have all these characteristics in each group, but majority wins the vote right? Surely the smallest group has the least about of power!

1. Upper Class 1% of the population
2. Middle & Lower Class 99%

So how does the smallest class have the most control?

1. Media
2. Political Influence
3. Funding
4. Decades of passed down tradition

What does any of this mean to me then? Well understanding the building blocks of how humanity works could...maybe... just maybe... eliminate the possibility of history repeating itself.

What am I going to do about this?
I'm in the process of making a poster that will depict the image shown in an earlier assignment. Obviously I'm not going to rush and ruin something I feel has a lot of potential in. I must make it memorable, and making it very memorable may take more than just the due date today. Although I sizzled up my brain waves in order to further this poster.

It's very odd that I chose The Republic of all the books I had on my shelf, because I've been working on the poster I wish to blow up and hang. The poster will depict all of societies pressures and attempt to touch everyone on some sort of level. More or less "OPEN YOUR EYES". This topic is very interesting to me, because I feel the world is so mysterious and unjust, you simply have to think outside of the box. This interests people, because they too want to know more about the world they think they live in. Various people go on each day not even second guessing what the world is really about.

So as for the discussion aspect I will briefly discuss the image I created in an earlier project, and future of what I want to do with it. I really want to finish this, and doing this spontaneous direction gave me the spark I really needed. So don't fret, this project will finish itself up come Monday.

The whole jest of this project is to ask various people their opinions of the piece ,and attempt to see society from another persons "lens". Instead of deeply debating a topic, I will simply portray our societies truths through images, and see how an individual can even interpret it as a whole.

So. Finish the poster, note what the individuals say about the piece, and for my own personal interests I will learn a lot about how various people interpret their environment.
